Explore some of the best shops on the planet right here in London. Discover the hidden - but not lost - world of tailors; shoemakers; jewellers and goldsmiths; gin distillers; wine makers (yes, wine is made in London!); cheese merchants; brewers; print makers; photographers and more besides.
The more I do this job, the more I understand how much people just love shops and shopping. London has some of the best retailers in the world but keeping ahead of the game is tough in a digital age. London is is also famous for its markets: that's where I do my regular shop.
The capital's offer can however be bewildering. I love the opportunity to share my knowledge about quality and luxury products and London craft and I can show you the very best places to shop in London.
My particular specialism is menswear and making. The popularity of TV programmes like the Crown and Peaky Blinders has increased interest in heritage clothing.
Of course I love the big names like Gucci, Prada and Paul Smith. My true passion however is for small and independent artisan brands. Soho is a particularly creative neighbourhood for small-scale makers.
I can open the doors to bespoke family tailors; specialist shoe makers; heritage workwear brands as well as fashion forward brands. I have advised a number of private clients in my capacity as stylist and personal shopper.
Making and craft is coming back to the capital. We could pay a visit to independent Soho jeweller Joy Everley. One of my favourite shoemakers is Jospeh Cheaney and Sons. This tradional maker has been constructing sturdy shoes and boots from the 19th century.
We could visit London's best department stores - my favourite's is Liberty. I am also an avid watch collector. I can advise on the purchase of new and vintage pieces. My favourite brands are Rolex, IWC, Patek Phillipe and JW Benson (a London brand now all but forgotten). After a lifetime of collecting I know the best places to find rare time pieces.
If your passion is for vintage clothing, antiques or found objects I can help here too. I know all the best vintage and charity shops. I can can advise on styling an original outfit on a shoe-string budget or sourcing quirky and original objects for the home or garden.
